EX BATTALION CRAZE TAKES THE PHILIPPINES BY STORM
Aside from singing, Filipinos also love to dance to good music. Whenever there is a new popular song, they would make a dance cover and post it on social media. Who would forget the moves of “Gangnam Style,” or “Nae Nae,” and “Teach Me How to Dougie?” But in the Philippines, it is all about “Hayaan Mo Sila” by Ex-Battalion.
Hayaan Mo Sila is a song about the sentiment of men who have been betrayed by the women they love and chose to let bygones be bygones. Because of its catchy lyrics and beat, its highest reach in Youtube soared to 4M.
Furthermore, this dance craze has circulated unstoppably in mainstream media. Famous celebrities like Ronnie Alonte and Vhong Navarro even made their own covers of Hayaan Mo Sila .
Covers by random people while singing or dancing to its infectious beat also gathered the attention of the social media.
What’s more interesting is when Yasmin Asistido, a random social media-savvy, made an alter ego version of the song but changed the lyrics wherein the boys are deemed as the “cheaters” instead of the girls.
Ex-Battalion just made waves in 2016 but it seems like they have a whole lot in stored for us. Although some Filipinos find the song by Ex-Batallion a little tad weird, still, it has been encrypted as a contribution of Filipino artists to the music industry.
